Skullcandy, a headphone manufacturing company has recently been experiencing a high number of customers calling into customer service complaining about faulty headphones. Headphones are useful for various purposes such as producing miniaturized versions of speakers thus one could listen effectively. Skullcandy need to produce headphones of better quality, thus, the also create a housing for the speakers that will automatiically fit comfortably on the clients ear. Such headphones can either be made using plastics or rubber depending on the design and customer satisfaction. Unlike a few ago when headphones were made of of iron and had poor quality sound thus innovation took centre stage, and firms started using ferrite and neodymium …show more content…
The various trainers and mentors should be persons of experience and expertise thus aid in production processes.
D) Establish clear objective goals to be met.
Skullcandy need to establish clear goals and thus tie them to incentives in order to improve productivity. The goals outlined should be achievable as it will help boost employees morale when they reach their targets. Incentives should be ideal and worth the time invested as it can include employees being given time-off or either money to satisfy their wants. Ideal goals when set can help employees reduce making errors and in the long-run improve their speed of production.
E) Implementing Changes Gradually.
Skullcandy need to improve on their product deliverables thus produce goods of high quality. However, to achieve this implementation of various production processes need to occur gradually as rapid wholesale changes tend to infringe employees from adaptations and may in the long-run prove not worthwhile. This can be better deduced from a learning curve as it clearly shows different capabilities of various …show more content…
For a particular line process, Skullcandy would wish to reach a desired rate of output in order to meet projected demand. It is usually expressed in work items per time period e.g. 20 parts per hour i.e.every three minutes, a part must leave the system. Cycle time represents the longest time any part is allowed to spend at each task.
H) Assign tasks to workstations.
After determining the cycle time of each stage, Skullcandy will now allocate tasks to each station based on their task times. Hence, it is more prudent to allocate task times beginning with the longest tasks whereas if total task time exceeds the cycle time it is necessary to start a new workstation and repeat the allocation of tasks as before. If a task time is longer than the workstation then it is necessary either to allocate multiple tasks in parallel in order to meet the target time or to break the task down into smaller elements.
I) Calculate the efficiency of the line
When tasks are assigned to workstations it is very unlikely that their total tasks times at each workstation will match the cycle time exactly. Efficient time management would translate to more production thus more
