After reviewing Shelby County Board of Education gift policy, I believe Brad would not be in compliance with the standards adopted. The policy states, “educational personnel are forbidden from accepting gifts or money that could possibly influence a student’s decision on any matter” (Shelby County Board of Education, 2010, pg. 3). Brad’s involvement with Tom could have a direct impact on how he performs in class, both behaviorally and academically.
