Case Study Rose's Trauma

1. Should the worker have shared his concern with Rose about not having sufficiently dealt with her trauma? I believe that the worker should have shared his concern with Rose about her not sufficiently dealing with her trauma. Based on notes and class discussion, the most presenting problem in a case should be dealt with first. He was counseling her because she had tried to kill herself. When learning her history and past trauma he was able to understand that the root of all Rose’s problems were from the trauma she experienced as a fourteen year old. He should have spoken with her about the fact that this event that took place is the underlining cause for what she is feeling now and that it should be focused on first and foremost. After she begins to deal with the trauma, only then can the worker continue on to the next problem, which would be her hesitance to marrying her partner.
2. What would you have done differently in regard to the termination of the case? In regards to the termination of the case, I would have continuously spoken to Rose about a termination plan during every session. Based on our book and class discussions, it is important that the client and social worker are both aware of the plan to terminate; therefore I would have mentioned it at the first session …show more content…
The culture that the people of Guatemala live in is very violent and hostile and have all experienced some type of abuse from the government. The social workers could do groups based on people who have lost loved ones to the violent government or to those were brutally attacked by the officials. This way the community of Guatemala can understand that they are not alone in these situations. I believe this could help Rose as well, once she saw that others were attacked she would understand that is not alone and therefore overcome her
