On Wednesday, September 9, 2015 I attended the Purdue Student Nursing Association club callout. It took place in Smith Hall (the building where they sell meat) at 6:30 in room 108. The meeting was approximately an hour and half long, and club president Ali Johnson welcomed those in attendance with pizza and enthusiasm. She informed us of the purpose of the club and increased my excitement for Purdue’s nursing programs and the opportunities available. PSNA does various fundraising activities including the scrub and stethoscope sale. This is a unique fundraising opportunity that I can support when I purchase my scrubs for clinicals I will begin my sophomore year. PSNA also stresses the importance of volunteering and offers unique opportunities to do so.

Dr. Kirkpatrick’s zeal and inspirational words tell me to push myself and to never pass up opportunities to grow in my abilities. This includes the possibility of perhaps going to get my masters in nursing eventually or even choosing a specialty. The upperclassmen shared their enthusiasm and showed me how much I have to look forward to in the next four years. This organization that I have joined can help me in many ways. It can help me socially, finding people with similar interests who share the same excitement for helping others and growing into the best nurse possible. I love any opportunity to learn and the club serves to teach and widen my view of careers in the medical profession. As a nursing student, it will also provide valuable connections, whether it be upperclassmen to serve as mentors, faculty that provides useful guidance, and speakers that offer new perspectives. I feel that PSNA will be a useful fellowship of my fellow nursing students that will offer many unique opportunities to grow and succeed in my journey toward becoming a
