Are you upset that the United states government is not wanting to make Providence Canyon a national park? Well I am. I will explain why I think the government should make Providence canyon a national park.

Georgia is a small state with few people with very few national sites. The Providence Canyon is the only canyon in Georgia. It is exactly 150 miles away from Georgia's state capital Atlanta. The canyon was started back when farmers came along and started building ditches to get rid of extra water.

Also the Canyon is one of the oldest land marks in Georgia. It is over 150 feet deep in some places. It Also has multiple layers of sediment. The deeper down in the canyon you go the darker the soil gets and the less air there is

The fight happened on September 28, 1874 when a few U.S. Armed force regiments under Ranald S. Instead of producing products for the sole needs of the family, farmers were beginning to produce larger scale to sell their products for profit. The switch to a market based economy revealed a need for a more efficient network of roads, canals, and improved overall transportation. The Pine Ridge Reservation is riddled with unemployment, arid lands, dreadful health statistics and short life-expectancies. However bad the conditions of the Pine Ridge Reservation seem to be, the nine tribes of the Great Sioux Nation continue to refuse the compensation from the federal government of $1.3 billion. According to the Sioux tribes, the confiscation of their land was illegal and invalid, therefore, the acceptance of the compensation would make the requisition of their land legal and just. The refusal of the compensation comes from the long standing feud caused by the government violating a treaty and seizing the Black Hills. The Black Hills has always been a spiritual and sacred land for tribes.…

As the powerful Colorado River churned beneath me, as it has for centuries, and the relentless sun peaked over the top of the North Rim, I could not help but feel astounded. I was in a timeless place: a place disconnected from the society I had left behind miles ago. Down here, in the lowest section of the Grand Canyon, it was just me, my friends, and the heat. Always the heat. We had started our journey, a run from the Grand Canyon’s North Rim to the South Rim, at 4 AM in a futile attempt to avoid the skyrocketing temperature and finish before the sun became the determining factor in the success of our venture.…
