Presenting problems:
1- Symptoms of anxiety and depression. This is the first of the listed presenting problems, because it seems to be the reason that Marcia’s physician originally made the referral. Furthermore, these symptoms show up throughout Marcia’s description of her current life situation.
2- Communication with family members. Marcia stated that she does not communicate well with her husband nor her daughter. She states that she would rather avoid her family than speak with them and end up arguing.
3- Wants versus reality. It seems that Marcia knows what she wants (to be able to “enjoy” her life with her husband, being a team player, etc) but is unable to make her goals become her reality.

Goal: Marcia will have her wants match her actual life. Obstacles: Marcia will set weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals. All goals will be SMART, and goals will be reported and updated at each counseling session.
List Marcia’s strengths and how you can use her identified strengths in her treatment.
Marcia has several identifiable strengths.
1- She was referred to by her family physician which means that she has someone looking out for her physical health. I would encourage her to continue to see this doctor so that she can be healthy in all aspects.
2- Marcia is willing to engage in her own treatment. This is a great strength because she will be the one to make the steps for change in her life, and it seems that she is willing to do so. Allowing her to see her willingness and encouraging her in this will be key.
3- She is also able to express her feelings (ie -“feels trapped and unable to process”). This will help her in identifying her goals and updating them as she goes.
4- She also has the support of her family. The issues with communication within her family are not an issue solely of Marcia, and her family will need to support each other through their work to improve

CBT will be useful in teaching Marcia practical skills, such as mindfulness skills, as well as using the CBT schedule as a way to ensure that everything is covered during the session. (See below for more specific details)
What interventions would you utilize that can be beneficial in engaging Marcia with treatment that will provide her the support and insight she may need to make sense of her feelings and emotions? Give examples, such as will you use homework, what kind of homework? During sessions what strategies/techniques might you use?
Homework would be a tool that I would use frequently with Marcia. In the beginning it may be something simple, such as journaling. In any instance that she avoids one of her family members, she can write down what she would like to say to them, instead of getting in an argument with them. This journal can then be used later for Marcia to problem solve how she could respond to situations in a different, more appropriate way (this could be a homework assignment for another

Ingalls 1 Cody Ingalls Professor Rhodes Introduction to Ethics April 15th, 2017 Case Study The debate surrounding abortion rights presents many ethical dilemmas, and is rarely a black and white issue, which makes it difficult to label all abortions as moral or immoral. Many people who are opposed to abortion are willing to support it in certain situations, such as in the case of rape, incest, or the endangerment of a mother’s life. One of these situations is described in the case study “Conceived in Violence, Born in Hate,” an overview of a rape and assault victim who was forcibly impregnated and decided to carry the child to term. The case raises interesting questions about the morality of abortions in the case of rape, and the autonomy of…

Passion, respect, enthusiasm, professionalism, sensitivity, humor and heart are qualities in which principals seek to find in potential teachers. In an article by Gary Hopkins, What Qualities Do Principals Look for in a New Teacher, principals identified the most important qualities they seek in potential teachers. Gary Cardwell, a principal from Crocket Elementary School, stated, “It’s impossible to select one characteristic that sets a teacher candidate apart from others. I would never use a single characteristic to employ a teacher, rather I consider many characteristics as part of a mosaic that makes up an entire principal” (Hopkins, 2016). When principals hire teachers, it is critical that they identify a candidates strengths and weaknesses.…

I decided to go with “The Basket Case” character, Allsion Reynolds from the movie, though not as verbal as the other characters her role amongst her peers is significant within the structure of the group. Initial impressions suggest that she may be out of touch with reality as demonstrated by some of her behavior such as the lack of her responses toward her peers though she is obviously very attentive to what is going on around her. Such behaviors as using her dandruff to simulate a snow fall and the concoction that she created as a sandwich by throwing away the meat and then adding Pixie sticks and Captain Crunch cereal to her sandwich suggest a different mentation than one would have expected. As the character developed in the movie it appears…
