INTRODUCTION

1.1 Introduction

Penang Second Bridge is one of the largest civil engineering projects in Malaysia after the First Penang Bridge. Penang Second Bridge or also known as The Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge was a dual carriageway toll bridge in Penang, Malaysia. It was the second bridge which connects the mainland to the island after the first Penang Bridge.
Once construction is completed, a maintenance management system plays an important role in maintaining the adequacy and the structure of the bridge so safe and comfortable in use by the general public.

Carried out the important information needed so that all maintenance be monitored properly and effectively by the bridge management system for any changes and reforms have been made from time to time according to need.
In addition, the objective of bridge maintenance management is also to ensure that the maintenance activities are planned and controlled according their system to ensure a perfect condition so that the bridge can extend the life spans

Bhd (JKSB) is carried out. Through several studies stating that it is the concessionaires that perform full maintenance on the Penang second bridge.

1.5 Significance of the study

The study is intended to examine in more detail the structure of the maintenance and repair of the Penang second bridge, which has been run by the company Jambatan Kedua Sdn. Bhd. (JKSB).
This study is also to review a user's view of the damage and the type of damage to the structure of the bridge. In addition, it also reviews the level of satisfaction of users of the system maintenance by the management of the Jambatan Kedua Sdn. Bhd. (JKSB).
It is hoped that this study will provide some guidance, particularly to the management of the Jambatan Kedua Sdn. Bhd. (JKSB) for more efficient strategies in managing the work of maintenance management of bridges.

1.6 The review method

Data collection and information processing consist of 2 categories; literature review and case study. Study of literature is to be use methods such as data through reading materials as well as references from the Jambatan Kedua Sdn. Bhd. (JKSB).
