Disabilities are so common that 1 in 5 people tend to have a disability. Research also suggests that one point or another we all will encounter one in our life. The perfect storm is made up of three parts is the inadequate social structure for those with disabilities, the stigma of those employer 's hiring those with disabilities, and the disincentives for both employee and employer. Protection for those with disabilities is a newer concept that has backing by the ADA and IDEA. However the ADA needs to specifically state certain conditions that qualify for the disabilities they protect. With every minority group there is stigma associated with it, this case study gives three examples. People with disabilities are unrealizable, Accommodating for those with disabilities is costly, and People with disabilities are likely to sue their employer. Many of those who suffer from disabilities can take part in healthcare programs offered by the governments their employer doesn 't have to seem them as to costly to employ. I also think it is extremely important what Diane Russell said "a benefits planner will explain their options" I think this is important because health benefits and budgeting money can be a daunting task for anyone if those with out disabilities, so the fact that they get their options explained to them is extremely helpful in how they can live their life. Even the Government is seeing how big of an issue this is becoming so now their is department for Disabilities, even though most states have set budget for this they need to establish set conditions for those who can qualify. I also feel that Non profit organizations that support disabilities are accepting and they help society establish a sense of normalcy when it comes to encountering those who are different from the norm.
