WARM Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals
The mission of Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry, Inc. (WARM) is to provide urgent repairs and accessibility upgrades for low-income homeowners in Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties in Southeastern North Carolina. WARM values making homes safer for elderly, disabled, and poor homeowners by mobilizing volunteers to complete the repairs. The organization works to combat substandard housing, which is a prominent issue in the North Carolina with at least one out of five homes being considered as substandard. The organization’s goal is to help every homeowner in the Southeastern North Carolina service area to ensure they have adequate housing and able to independently and safely live in their homes in which they worked hard to pay for. …show more content…
Elderly people, especially veterans and those that depend on their retirement, own homes that are challenging to maintain. Especially grandparents that become the caregivers for ill or disable family members or grandchildren. Many of them feel that they will be able to take care of the problems as they have done in the past. However, maintaining a house is not only financially difficult but can be physically demanding. Moreover, elderly have difficulties in asking for help, as they feel that they should be able to take care of their homes on their own.
