The ransom note in this case was intriguing because of the curious manner in which it was discovered. This caused serious doubts the story told by John and Patsy Ramsey. The Ransom note idiosyncrasies were never fully accounted for and explained in the investigation.
Patsy claimed that she found the note and that it was addressed to her husband. It stated that their daughter, six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey had been kidnapped. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of $118,000 for JonBenét’s safe return. This was a curious amount since it was exactly the same amount as a recent pay bonus that Patsy’s husband, John Ramsey, had recently received.
