Joe Tanney In The Hot Seat Scenario

In the Hot Seat scenario, Joe Tanney was given the role of leader for a high priority project in which the taskforce was to generate a report on streamlining the companies blueprint generation process. He made an agenda and detailed everything that needed to be covered. Joe also called a meeting with the other three members that the Vice President of Operations, Jeffery Dillon suggested to be on the taskforce. They were to delegate the items on the agenda and work through them to decide what kind of software would work best for all of the departments as a whole since so many of them were using different types of software programs which were not as compatible as the company preferred.
I give Joe a “B” on his handling of the situation mainly because Cheng, Rosa and Simon were able to divert the situation on several occasions and even though Joe was able to bring it back on track several times, he never really had

One thing that Joe needs to be doing is become more of an Autocratic leader ad assign the jobs, make time limits on getting the information back to him as well as set up another meeting so they can get together and compare their findings and start their report. Instead he is more of a democratic leader and letting them be involved in the situation but they are not wanting to participate at all. The planning of what to do is done in the agenda, they need to organize the tasks to be done, and Joe needs to direct who needs to be doing what. He also lost control with Simon constantly interrupting and trying to undermine Joe. Which Joe needs to go talk to Simon in person and talk about why he is acting this way and what he expects from Simon since Jeffery Dillon had personally chosen Simon to help due to his experience, while also letting Simon know that he appreciates his expertise in the field and wants to hear all of his
