3.3.3 Selection of Die Angles

The split die was designed for the ease of assembly for fabrication. AISI 52100 steel was selected as the material for the die fabrication. The entry part of the die is 12 mm and has 120 mm length. The profile of the die is also shown in the solid works software. The angle of the die is 90 is maintained, the slope radius is 20 mm. the Figure.3.1 & Figure. 3.2. illustrate the split die design and solid works model of the split die.

3.3.4 Fixture Design & Bolt Design
The Fixture is used to hold the split die rigidly. It gives more strength to the die, to overcome the stresses during the ECAP. AISI 1018 Mild Steel material was selected for the fabrication of the container to reduce the cost. The construction is easy to handle and it is easy to locate the die inside the fixture. The clamping provision is easily handled. The Figure. 3.3 illustrate the fixture design and Figure. 3.5 solid works model. The Figure.

The samples are fed into the electric muffle furnace and heated to the different temperatures like 150C and 200C keep for one hour. The photographic view of the furnace is shown in the Figure. The samples are kept within the die and it is assembled to accurate position for pressing in the UTM machine . The potential of the UTM machine is of 40 Ton limit used and its ram speed was maintained at 1 mm s−1for every pass. The load for compaction of chips is  10 tons. MoS2 as lubrication. Lubrication may be very important to reduce the friction between the sample and the channel internal wall and to eliminate the sample from the die after the process is completed. The samples are pressed upto 4 passes through the processing routes A, BA, BC and C. The samples are processed before and after the ECAP process of pure aluminum and Al 2024 are shown in the Figure:

The fuselage support rib, prop adapter and secondary motor base are the alloy parts that are produced by Alcotec. Since using CNC to produce the alloy parts, it cost 5 times more the price of the ABS parts produced by WEP. There are 3 types of rods that are D8, which is used in the landing gear module, D10, used in fuselage module and D20 used in the rotor arm module. Currently, according to the BOM list, the rods are being produced by Alcotec. However, in the quotation that Milgate provided, the rods has been included under the materials purchased by them. The cost that Milgate charge for the rods are at least 50% lesser than…

Upon completion of the FIT, the section was drilled from 3,857m to 4,990m when a trip was made to the shoe, to allow some rig repairs to be done. Formation pressure was acquired during the trip to the shoe. After some rig maintenance work at the casing shoe, the BHA was tripped back in hole to bottom. Drilling then resumed from 4,990m to 5,988m where further formation pressure points were taken.…

In this experiment, we are using Calcium, Aluminum, and Magnesium to test our theory about periodic trends. We put these 3 metals through different tests to show why elements in similar group and period react differently. The purpose for this lab is to test the idea of patterns in the periodic trend, and if elements in similar group or similar period react differently due to the trend that they follow. If two elements in the same group or family are to be tested, one of the element reactivity will be slightly different from the other. This is the work of the periodic trends, the characteristics of an element atom change because of the element locations on the periodic table.…

The second half of Die Wise elaborated the lessons Jenkinson portrays within his trade. I enjoyed learning about his views on the current state of the palliative care system and he seems to be one of the few people within this line of work that is willing to be frank with the patients he works with. The story I liked the most was the one about Louise and the relationship he had with her. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to work with someone who is unwilling to accept things as they are or are suffering from the severe anxiety of dying. With Louise, it seemed as though she had accepted the odds and was ready to move on while retaining a good sense of humor.…

Under pure axial compression loading for cube specimen (C1), the failure cracks generated are approximately parallel to the direction of load as shown in figure (4.3) with some cracks formed at an angle to the applied load. As a result, lateral shearing stress is produced in the cube specimen. The effect of this shear decrease towards the center of cubes; so these sides of the cube have near vertical cracks at the cube center.…
