INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

Sialkot Sports industry is an entrepreneurship capital of Pakistan and its unique craftsmanship is a hallmark of this region. It has a fabulous contribution in the development of our economy because almost all the manufacturing if this industry is being exported. Our economists believe that this industry is a nucleus of cottage industry and it is a beautiful role model for rest of the country. Made in Sialkot, Brazuca football has been played in this FIFA football world cup 2014 in Brazil and gained marvelous fame all over the world. More than 50 cent international cricket players deploy bats which are being exported from Sialkot. This is a second city of Pakistan which contributes larger financial support and first city who take itself many initiatives for the development of their people in which establishment of Sialkot International Airport is one an example.
Furthermore, like other cottage divisions, labor is more used in the production of sports industry as compared to huge capital investment in other industries in which Faisalabad looms and garments industries are good examples. The first manufacturing of sports goods in Sialkot can be traced back in 1883 with products such as cricket bats, hockey and polo sticks (“Sialkot Sports”, 2014). Today in the field of sports goods, Sialkot has achieved superb place in the international market by its 99 cent export. It caters more than 70% of total world demand for hand-stitched inflatable soccer balls (“Sialkot Sports”, 2014). Sialkot is the second largest exporting city of Pakistan which contributes more than six percent share of total export and just sports sector earned Rs.13500 Million in 2013-14.
