Shaq may have made his name and his millions on the basketball court, but he is making an even large impact on the streets of Newark, New Jersey. Newark is Shaq's hometown and he wants to increase the resident's access to construction jobs, unions, and higher pay. Project Impact Newark will help resident prepare for union entrance exams and entry into apprenticeship positions.

Granted, union access and skills will not mean much if there are not any jobs. The solution: Shaq partnered with Boraie Development to include the construction of a 169-unit luxury high-rise apartment complex in the program.
