Hypothesis: Pick n Pay operates as a successful Public Company
Pick n Pay like many other public companies runs a lot of CSR programmes. From the three most recent annual reports we can analyse the level of success achieved by Pick n Pay in terms of Triple bottom line reporting, from there we can determine if Pick n Pay does operate a successful public company.

In terms of people Pick n Pay does a lot of things to help the people around them and they also make sure their employees get involved in their CSR programmes. Instead of using plastic bags Pick n Pay is starting to move people away from using plastic bags. A few years ago Pick n Pay started a campaign offering eco bags (bio-degradable) in Pick n Pays all over Southern Africa (every Pick n Pay store). Pick n Pay has now decide to launch a similar campaign but this time it’s going to be bigger and better than the previous eco-bags, the new product is called township bags, these bags are pleasant to look at (eye catching) and to make things better they are made by 100% African cotton. These township bags are actually made in townships and from making these bags pick n pay has managed to employ over 50 women in the area of kayelitsha and all these women were unemployed and live in disadvantaged backgrounds before they were given the chance to work for pick n pay, which is a great CSR initiative because it helps both people and it will be good for the …show more content…
The next one is the small business incubator, this is when small and medium enterprises go to pick n pay and either gets offered help or they ask for help. Pick n Pay then takes these small enterprises under their wing and mentors them and guides them into the right path in the business world.
The last one is the Ackerman Pick n Pay fund. This is when community based organisations like NGOs are given financial support in order to improve their income.
Smile Foundation
This initiative helps children who have facial abnormalities and pick n pay funds them with the correct facial surgery or plastic surgery to fix the faces of these children and pick n pay does this through several hospitals all over South Africa. The Smile foundation has helped more than five hundred children all over South Africa.
