It is how the members perceive the organization on the above parameters. Organizational culture can be either strong or weak. In a strong culture the core values are strictly adhered to by the members of the organization. There are seven characteristics which comprises Organizational Culture. Core Values: Core values are the dominant values that are accepted throughout the organization. These core values form the dominant culture of an organization. The core values of Merck are improving life, ethics & integrity, innovation, access to health and diversity & teamwork. Their core values are driven by a desire to function with the highest standards of integrity, improve life, expand access to their products ,achieve scientific excellence and employ a diverse workforce that values collaboration.
The culture embraces quest to tackle health challenges and create a difference in the world. They are dedicated to highest level of scientific excellence and improve the health and wellness of people around the world. With the use of different types of learning methods, they (new managers) hence focus their efforts on what they will need to know and do to be effective in their role and to gain the knowledge and skills to manage others.
Team Development
There is a number of programs available for development of teams and team building, ranging from formal learning experiences to “action learning”–based activities that help teams develop skills and competencies as they pursue real business goals.

Responsibility for developing Lean Six Sigma and Change Execution capabilities was decentralized in 2013 to better meet the business needs of the divisions and functional groups. The company continues focusing on all these capabilities in support of its strategy to minimize errors, make the processes simple, lessen risks and maximize efficiency.
Advancing Employee Education
Merck’s U.S. Educational Assistance program encourages employees to learn more for their current assignments and/or helps them prepare for new assignments. This program comprises financial assistance for relevant undergraduate and graduate
