Mentor Program Proposed tasks
We will hire a supervisor to run the program in accordance with Trine’s hiring policy. The first step would be to hire the supervisor who would be in charge of the program and most importantly be in charge of the mentors. This is required not only to make sure everything runs smoothly but to act as a bridge between the staff and the mentors and mentees. This position will allow for easier quality control and more efficient responses to fix issues with the program as opposed to having it directly run by the current tutoring staff. All of these things combined easily justify spending the money to hire someone to help run the program

Right after the housing quiz(or within it if necessary) there will be a small quiz that ask questions that will also be answered by the mentors that will help mentees and mentors be matched so that a successful relationship can be formed that will last beyond the mentor program
We would start with a pilot program that would include mechanical and biomedical engineering majors so that it can be made the most efficient and also so that it can be tested.
Mentors and supervisors will be paid in accordance with Trine payment conventions.
A system of occasional meetings with a supervisor as well as the supervisor sitting in on meetings occasionally to make sure the mentors are doing their job in a satisfactory way.
Exit surveys and talks with the supervisor will be set up to allow for changes to the mentoring program over time.
Supervisor opens the application process to the next year of mentors and will use the comments and ideas to help improve the program so that it can change and adapt to better suit the needs of Trine

This chapter began with the brief history of the PSC profession, which I found to be very interesting! I was unaware that the space race had encouraged PSCs to push students into science. I’m curious what the current “push” to guide students into is. In my opinion, part of my job is inspiring children to get outside so they will be good stewards of the environment. I believe scientific fields will become increasingly important as we invent new ways of living to decrease pollution and fix global warming.…

DuBois and Neville (1997) argue that mentoring programs were largely time limited, issue focused, group oriented, and implemented by trained professionals such as counselors, psychologists, or teachers. They also argue that well-run mentoring programs result in only a "small benefit" for the average child, and poorly designed programs that do not adequately train or screen mentors can be harmful, especially for children who have experienced neglect or abuse. They furthermore state that these at-risk youths need more counseling than an untrained volunteer can typically provide. Such children are often hypersensitive to their mentor's actions and may feel abandoned with little or no justification.…

Out of the numerous experiences that have shaped my life, from intense political conversations to helping out the high school freshmen for my Peer Mentorship class, I feel the most influential experience in my life is when I began interning at a law clinic. Not only because it helped me determine my career path for my future, but also because it solidified my passion for wanting to help people, especially immigrants/asylum seekers who come from impoverished backgrounds or unfortunate circumstances. I currently intern at the University of Detroit Mercy George J.
