Lena Pope will be hosting a Blessing of the Animal event at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 in the Marty Leonard Community Chapel courtyard. This event is a celebration of animals and will focus on the benefits of children having pets and age appropriate guidelines and tips. Attendees are encouraged to bring pet food donations to benefit local animal shelters. This event is free and open to the public.
Families are also encouraged to bring their own pets. Dogs must be on leashes. Small pets and cats must be in carriers or secured. Lena Pope will be providing goodie bags for those who attend and will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. The event will have a variety of vendors from different animal organizations including animal welfare and rescue groups. The event will include individual pet blessings.
