Case Study Of Candidate Manmano's Success

Candidate Manmano’s briefed lacked two critical pieces that would have shown the candidate’s ability to have developed a plan prior to execution. SNC did not brief a SOM other than “red is dead,” and also did not brief tasks until prompted by a fellow team member during questions. Even then, the tasks were simply assignments and did not include any purpose. However, once in execution SNC displayed a keen communication ability that included very detailed directions to his team members. Once his plan met failure in its attempt to get to the second obstacle, SNC was able to successfully take in minor suggestions from his team members in an effort to continue their push across the problem. Candidate Bills delivered a very thorough and in depth five paragraph order. SNC was very diligent in ensuring that all information and additional information was passed to the fire team, at one point causing SNC to stumble over his thought process, and pause for a length of time to recoup his thoughts before moving on. This visibly flustered SNC. SNC lacked a sense of urgency by taking up a substantial amount of time to deliver the order. Upon completing the brief SNC took more time to square himself away failing to give any guidance to the fire team resulting in zero productivity.…

This assignment seemed just like any other. There was a deadline and guidelines and goals that were going to dictate the structure of it. I, however, didn’t know that I was wrong, and it was going to be far from any other. I have a habit, a detrimental one, that was slowly being fed and reassured as “ok” the more and more I went through my schooling. That habit has a name, procrastination, yet I never saw it as a problem because with every assignment and paper I wrote the night before and was able to get a decent grade, there was this unconscious signal that reassure me that if done once, it could be done again.…

At the point of friction, SNC had to rely solely on his fire team. Being unable to formulate a solution of the obstacle, SNC continued looking towards his subordinates for answers.…

SNC briefed a complete Enemy situation and maintained a tactical mindset by defining the enemy’s most likely course of action. SNC’s mission encompassed a task and a purpose; however, his tasking statements, while clear and detailed, were not briefed with the 5W’s. SNC failed to develop a cohesive plan prior to briefing his order, requiring him to develop a plan as he approached the obstacle. During execution of the mission, SNC was clearly in charge, issuing strong, clear orders to his team, displaying confidence and communication.…

    Super Hornet Summary

The running joke about the Super Hornet is that it is a “jack of all trades, and master of none”. The truth is that the Hornet and specifically the Super Hornet has been required to replace the F-14 Tomcat, the S-3 Viking and the A-6 Intruder. That required the Super Hornet to effectively satisfy the mission sets of three aircraft. Boeing was responsible for ensuring that the airframe could handle that challenge, and succeeded in most cases. What Boeing was not contracted to solve, however, was how to ensure aircrew maintained proficiency in the required mission sets.…
