SUDBURY, ON— Even though Rhaili is in charge of student government, she sees it as a stepping stone into public relations, not politics.

Rhaili Champaigne, 22, is a third year public relations student who is currently president of Cambrian College’s Students’ Administrative Council (SAC). She doesn’t take this role lightly either, putting in long days and answering emails well past midnight is part of her regular routine. Amongst all her responsibilities as

They come down with concerns, but they don’t realize what I do behind the doors to fight for them,” said Rhaili Champaigne.

SAC’s goal is to encourage students to come to them when they need guidance or assistance with any situation. The Council is there to assist students in anything from academic appeals, to supporting student events, to providing hygiene products, to helping them find rooms around campus.

“My life is really the school and the students, when I go into meetings a lot of people forget that I am there for the students. I’m constantly fighting for what students want and need at the school. I get paid to try and make it better for students here,” Champaigne added.

Even after being apart of SAC for a few years, Rhaili believes that she still has so much to learn about this vast position. It’s a job that isn’t for those who don’t have the time or the dedication to commit towards improving student life. Rhaili will continue to fight for students and advocate for their wellbeing.

It is a great pleasure to recommend Rachel Sitasz for admission to the Edward Hospital Student Volunteer Program. She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…

Governor’s School Last summer, I attended governor's school west where three hundred and twenty-five bright and open-minded students from all across North Carolina gathered for five and a half weeks in a college campus setting. To me, this was a big milestone in life that changed me for the better. We left our cozy lives of families and friends to start with a clean slate with strangers we’ve never seen in our lives. At first, we thought of it as a sacrifice of our summer to glamorize our college application, but throughout the program we experienced things that exceeded beyond our expectations.…

At Xavier University we believe in the “All for One and One for All” philosophy; showing that camaraderie and equality among all are still possible. One way Xavier lives up to its support for students is through the one-year long Smooth Transition mentoring program. I served as a smooth transition mentor to three incoming first-year students during the 2016-2017 academic year. In order to ensure that they have a successful first year at Xavier, I informed them about the resources Xavier University provides, including the writing center, mathematics lab, tutoring services, Ohio link, and much more. I also advised them to make good decisions and form relationships with people who would motivate them to succeed.…
