Case Study Of Brunt Hotel Operational Structure And Hotel Management

We have been introduced with the case of Brunt Hotel which is a multinational chain hotel that owns more than 30 hotels around in UK. They have acquired a small chain of hotels in France and remodel into Brunt Hotel business philosophy. For this they have contracted a company of management consultant as they have never worked outside UK. The first idea Brunt Managers have is to hire expatriate staff to implement the changeover and to supervise and manage the hotel after everything is in place.

It is very important that some questions must arise in the mind of a hotel manager, for example: How can the quality of service be increased by staff? How to get a better impression on customers? How to increase the number of clients? And above all,

Brunt hotel is looking to hire a Hotel Manager for its new chain of hotels in France.
The candidate must fulfill the following requirements:
Qualification:
• A degree in Hotel Management with Experience in International Hotel Management
• Familiarity with Brunt Hotel Mission Values
• Familiarity with Brunt Hotel Operational Structure and Customer Service
• Ability to improve and develop all aspects of hotel business
• Ability to act in an international business culture
• Ability to work in cross cultural environment
Job Description:
• Providing and maintain excellent customer service to hotel guests
• Manage and create a clean and comfortable environment for guests and staff
• Responsible for recruitment of Local Staff
• Responsible for staff training and staff development
• Responsible for financial, sales and any other administrative issue
• Responsible for the good maintenance of the hotel building and also security matters

As happens often it is very difficult to identify a good candidate when interviewing. The practical part of the job, touching the reality is what makes the difference. Each of the senior management of the hotel was asked to develop selection process criteria to identify the best candidate possible. It is very difficult to say only from the information given as one needs to understand more about the person if or how he was approached the test and how has answered the questions. To me the most suitable person for this position is Manager C. The person has a lot of experience in a Managerial position. He has visited France many times as a tourist and as such he has a taste of what requirements might follow to improve the hotel.
