O’Leary’s approach to him is through love and structure, not as a rude tyrant. The Attachment Theory helps caregivers and parents see how the attachments formed as child will have long lasting effects on how children are able to build relationships in the future. Since Tran experienced two major traumas as an infant and his father was never really involved, this impacted him a lot. It’s apparent to Mr. O’Leary that what Tran has faced has impacted him negatively. If Mr. O’Leary is not able to correct, or at least divert Tran, he’s going to go down the wrong path. The world is going to treat Tran like a thug and a delinquent if Mr. O’Leary is not able to fix his behavior before he ages out of foster care. Mr. O’Leary does not want Tran to become another
