Vendor/Retailer Relations

Vendors prefer fast-moving products which do not block their capital or space. Margins also play a major role and it can be achieved by selling huge volume of water bottles. Vendor instead of keeping unknown brands that has low sales, they tend to keep well-known brands that give high volume sales. In the case of Bisleri it gives the retailers a profit margin of about 25%. A bottle of 20 liter Bisleri that costs Rs. 80 is supplied to the retailer at a price of Rs. 60 to Rs. 65.

The key for a good retailer relationship involves visiting the retailer twice or thrice and building a relation. The company also offers special discounts and promotional schemes. Also an extended company support is provided to its retailer

This ban may not be a last point, it may be lead to a start of serious chain of actions by government who may ban bottled water industry which uses a lot of plastic bottle due which the environment will get destroyed in future and become incapable to provide for future generations. There is a dire need now for Bisleri to develop a strategy to regain its reputation by not using any non-biodegradable plastics.

Statement of Objectives
• To develop a strategy to make a break through system or packaging for Bisleri water bottle which don’t involve any kind of non-biodegradable material
• To implement the strategy simultaneously regional wise starting with metros in south, north, central, west and finally eastern distribution centers.
• Implementation should not take more than 6 months for implementing
• To determine the impact of strategy on pricing of Bisleri water

Decision Criterions
• Establish and implement the strategy in 2000 outlets in first month to 5000 outlets in second month and almost in 90% distribution outlets in third

Also modular vending machines can be installed in places like railway stations and roadside stalls. Here the concept was to have Bisleri tanks/ machines which dispense water on the introduction of a coin in the slot. The user will enter the money and push a button on the machine and a stream of Bisleri water would be the result.
