Beck Case Study On Kidneys

Beck is a 45-year-old American male, standing at approximately 6 feet, weighs 230 pounds, his blood pressure is 160/100, and his body temperature on average is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Beck works at a McDonalds, which he has been working at for over 15 years. Beck had been suffering from pain on his right side and has been getting headaches for 5 years. Beck stated that pain and headaches is an everyday occurrence for him; he takes aspirin for the pain. Beck’s diet consists of burgers and fries. The only time he has fruits and vegetables in his diet are from the fast foods (lettuce, tomatoes, fries and sometimes strawberry smoothies). At his job, he avoids mentioning his back pains and headaches because he’s afraid that he will be laid off …show more content…
I did an abdominal ultrasound, which uses high sound waves that capture images of the inside of the body. The abdominal ultrasound is to see if there's anything in his kidneys. When I looked at the screen and I saw that there was evidence of small stones in his right kidneys. I suspected these were kidney stones. Kidney stones are the blocking of cysts in the tubules which is the filtering of the kidneys, the purpose of tubules is to prevent drainage, crystals from when the urine stays in one area. This then, causes kidney stones. The symptom of kidney stone is back or side pain. The stones can be small enough to pass with the urine and sometimes there is blood in the urine. The next thing I preformed is the Ct scan, it is a device that project an x-ray throughout the body, which can clearly show the kidney stones. Beck does not experience this symptom. Cystinuria is a rare case. Next, I suspected is, Beck is suffering from polycystic kidney disease. PKD are caused by the cyst in the kidneys. The symptoms of PDK are back or side pain, blood in the urine, kidney infections, high blood pressure, and headaches. Beck suffers from a pain in his back, side and there is blood in his urine due to the bacteria. The symptom of PKD disease are high blood pressure, back/side pain, headache, blood in the urine, kidney stone. These were all the symptom that Beck
