Bark Hill Pet Services and Grooming will be solely owned and operated by Ms. Joanne Burkhardt, who has over 30 years of experience within the pet industry and is looking to continue her passion as a dog groomer and pet-sitter in the Prescott-Russell area. Before moving away from the area to live closer to her two daughters, Joanne successfully owned and operated Abri TLC Kennels, Boarding and Grooming in L’Orignal, Ontario. During her time operating TLC Kennels, Joanne gained a list of satisfied and loyal customers, many of whom returned monthly for grooming services and yearly for boarding services. Daily duties include bathing and clipping dogs to conform to a variety of breed specific standard styles. During this process, they will also detangle hair, remove mats, dry the coat, and check for parasites or other skin irritations. Additional duties often include trimming nails, cleaning ears, expressing anal sacs and brushing teeth. A certified groomer is also responsible for accommodating special requests from the owner and informing them if any health problems are discovered during the grooming process. Requires Professional Certification.
Dog Walker/At-Home Service:
Visits the homes of their clients to take dogs out for daily exercise. Daily duties include being responsible for providing exercise for their client’s dogs each day. Walks usually run in half hour or one hour increments. Also, responsible for checking the dog’s food and water supply to make sure basic needs are met after their exercise. Dog Walkers should have their clients complete a document listing their contact information, their vet’s contact information, and other important information. Transport vehicles must be stocked with cloth towels for comfort as well as paper-towels, a pet’s first-aid-kit, treats, as well as a water bowl, water, and leashes. Transport services will be provided on an as needed basis to members of the elderly who lack the ability to bring their pets to the vet for veterinary check-ups and will have to coordinate with the owner of Bark Hill Pet Services and Grooming to determine individual needs. Requires High School and Valid Driver’s Licence.
