Lessons on Leadership from Ann Fudge
Ms. Ann Fudge came to the rescue of Martin Sorrell’s company of Young & Rubicam (Y&R). She became the fresh face that Y&R needed in order to stay afloat after being acquired by Martin Sorrell’s London based company, the WPP Group. It allowed her to relax and unwind for one. It also gave her a breather from the fast-paced lifestyle that she was living. It was a much-needed slowdown in my opinion. But on the other hand, the were some drawbacks to the break she took. One of them is that the break took her out of the mainstream work “culture”. This can cause a person to lose touch with technology, practices, standards, and many more things. Not to mention they can lose touch with their colleagues and connections. I didn’t notice any evidence that this happened to Ms. Fudge, but I do think that if she stayed out on break for more than two years she may have experienced some of the things I
