However, due to being in the MICU for 5 days I would expect the patient to look thin and frail to where muscle has atrophied because of ICU muscle acquired weakness. Mr. Jones might also look pale or present with a bluish tent because he is still hypoxemia and enough oxygenated blood is not getting to the rest of his body. I would also expect for there to be several lines and tubes coming from the patient in order to monitor his heart rate and breathing. Since the patient is intubated I would expect to see a tube coming from his mouth to help keep his airway open and remove any mucous from his lungs.…

Dr. V and Classmates, After reviewing the trauma case study, I believe Maryam demonstrate diagnostic criteria for Posttraumatic Stress. According to Bressert “The disturbance in an acute stress disorder must last for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 4 weeks, and must occur within 4 weeks of the traumatic event.” Therefore, I believe Maryam demonstrate diagnostic criteria for posttraumatic stress because she was involved in a car accident two months ago and she is still not able to sleep and feels afraid and has nightmares. According to Hunter (2017) “The DSM–5 diagnosis of PTSD is dependent on the following: (a) exposure to a traumatic event, serious injury (b) intrusion symptoms associated with the traumatic event (c) avoidance of stimuli…
