Policy Title: Nurse Family Partnership
The Policy’s Goals: The Nurse Family Partnership established for low income first time mothers who will receive empowerment and support through an assigned nurse. A nurse will be assigned to a young woman who are in the categories of low income and unmarried. These nurses will provide guidance and support to these soon to be young mothers during pregnancy up to the two years of a child’s life. Nurse will provide education to young mothers around positive health related behaviors, competent care of children, and maternal personal development (family planning, educational achievement and participation in the work force).

In any case, with roughly 600,000 children conceived consistently to low-income first-time mothers in the U.S., additional funding is crucial to bringing Nurse-Family Partnership to more qualified first-time families. Nurse Family Partnership is a public health program that is upheld by an extensive variety of federal, state and local public funding sources includes Medicaid, the Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant (Title V), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Child Care Development Block Grant, Healthy Start, Early Head Start, Title IVB and other child welfare and foster care prevention funds, juvenile justice, child abuse prevention funds through the Administration for Children & Families, tobacco settlement funds, and state and local general revenue …show more content…
What are the hidden goals: Nurse Family Partnership goals for these young women to become successful mothers who have in place proper parenting skills and implemented stability in their life areas. However, it is up to the young mother to follow up with their long term goals. Young Mothers had drop out of the program (Leland, John, 2012) before their children turned two years based on changes in their lives such as securing employment, enrolling in school or it can be their lost of interest in the program.
