New Belgium’s focus on environmental responsibility has enhanced the profits of the company, but has also made for a higher capital investment. Today the company employs 780 employees and generates multimillion dollars worth of sales per year. New Belgium is an environmentally friendly business that has helped reduce the impact on the environment through their production procedures of goods and services helping preserve our natural resources.
The company emphasizes on eco-friendly practices and in 1998 New Belgium made a goal to offset 100% of its electricity through the city’s wind-power program. The company has chosen to pay a 50% premium for its electrical energy, which saves 8,000,000 lbs of CO2 being released into the environment per

When New Belgium Brewery was built, she made sure there was 3 stories of natural light- this helps in the reduction of electrical bills, and with the overall productivity and health of her employees. New Belgium even captures the internal rinse water and uses it for the external rinse of the beer bottles- saving millions of gallons of water per year, and lowering water costs.
While most of the environmental friendly initiatives require a larger initial investment, most of these initiatives will help lower the companies’ overall costs in the long run. Having an environmentally friendly company is a very attractive feature to consumers.
