Introduction I’ll never forgot the plaque hanging in my childhood home with a famous Muhammad Ali quote that states, “service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” My parents, Michael and Karen Clavin, specifically placed this sign on the wall of our entrance hall so that it was visible soon as soon as we entered our home. They raised my three brothers and me to always take the opportunity to help others who were in need through service work. In the year 2007, we began volunteering at Nashville’s Room in the Inn every Thursday as a family. Room in the Inn is an organization that serves hundreds of homeless individuals and families every year. As a naïve 10-year-old, I failed to see the impact that was being made.
