Maturational Crisis
Maturational crisis has to do with the expectable transitions people experience as they move from one stage of human development to another. Maturational crisis are crisis in response to facing a new developmental phase (Gorman 2008). For example, a teenager calls the clinic because she just finds out she is pregnant. As always, the first step is to assess the teenage girl. Identify three factors to determine the development of a crisis. Perception of the event, Situational support, adequate coping mechanism (Aguilera 1998). Answers to these questions will then help evaluating the patient support system, evaluate previously used support system (Gorman 2008). Therefore, formulate intervention specific to my patient. Each patient is different so as the way they cope. Interventions are specific to patients with goals oriented toward returning to precrisis level of functioning (Gorman 2008). In this case, I know the patient will never regain his leg back. Interventions for this patient will focus in helping with grieve.
Adventitious crisis
Adventitious crisis is crisis of the disaster. They are rare, unpredicted disasters that are not part of everyday life. For example, terrorism, natural disaster. We have national incident plan to follow through when such happen. We follow disaster plan management. Depending on the nature of the incident whether if it is floods, fires, terrorism or earthquakes. We go by our facility policy. her, being ready to listen to her, responding to her, being present, not rushing etc. That made a difference. As mentioned by Gorman (2008), nurse responds accurately and with empathy to patient. Therefore, all nursing activities such as medication administration, wound dressing changes went smoothly.
