Listening to choice of music and performing task (task 2) 3 minutes
Rest 2 (Silence) 2 minutes
Task only (Task 3) 3 minutes
Rest 3 (Silence) 2 minutes
In order to assess the mood prior to the experiment and after listening to the selected music, the participants were asked to rate the current mood using Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS). To measure …show more content…
The significant difference within the groups for Indian classical instrument, Indo jazz and Violin were measured using Friedman test which is a non-parametric alternative to the one-way ANOVA with repeated measures and Wilcoxon signed-rank Post Hoc test was performed to find the statistically significant difference between two related groups. The alpha value was set at 0.05 and asymmetric signed (2-tailed) values were noted. The Post Hoc Wilcoxon signed rank test was performed on different combinations of related groups and Bonferroni adjustment was calculated as alpha value divided by six conditions (0.05 / 6 = 0.008). So the new significant level was set at p = 0.008. If the p value was larger than 0.008, it was not considered as a statistically significant result. The dependent variables are perceived emotion (valence/arousal) using SAM scale, positive and negative mood using PANAS, brain activation using EEG (Relative alpha, beta, theta component energies, theta synchronization and alpha de synchronization), physiological signal by measuring the pulse rate and the task performance by measuring the commission, omission errors and reaction time continuously. As the measured data obtained were not normally distributed. The Friedman test was selected to measure the differences between these groups .A single group was measured on six different conditions (Listening to selected music, Rest 1, Listening to selected music with task, Rest 2, Task without music and Rest 3) at sixteen electrode locations (F3, F7, F8, F4, T3, T4, T5, T6, C3, C4, P3, P4, O1, O2, Fp1, Fp2). The analysis was performed using IBM
