Throughout my time at LeTourneau, I have seen how powerfully RA’s impact their floor, whether it be encouraging social interaction, inciting participation in school events or helping residents on an individual level. It is important to recognize that every person on a floor is unique and should be treated as such; this dynamic of leadership is both thrilling and challenging. Likewise, promoting a floor culture that encourages communication, academic success, and spiritual development is not effortlessly maintained and should be done with great care.

When it comes to improvements, I like to divide initiatives into generalized and localized categories, depending on who is impacted and the amount effort required to carry out these advances. My role in Senate has really helped me differentiate the different issues facing LeTourneau and how these problems not only affect the student body, but also the administration.
For Thomas Hall First Floor, in particular, floor culture is in need of some serious work. The common area that splits the floor in half has effectively isolated each wing. Other than the occasional mandatory meeting, there is barely any interaction between the two sides of the floor. As a localized issue, I would like to see more floor events take place to foster the growth of relationships. Simply putting on a semi-weekly or monthly game night would be a positive step towards improving the life of Thomas’ First Floor residents.
