For our civic engagement project for the Redefining Leadership class, my group, Stephanie, Hailee, Christina, and I, decided to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in New Haven, Connecticut on a Thursday. Before we got there, we did not know what to expect, but afterwards, we truly felt grateful that we helped out a great cause. The Ronald McDonald House is a charity house that keeps families close to their family members that are being treated at a nearby hospital. We spoke with someone who works at the House and she told us that eight families were there on that day. We were able to see some people and did what we could to help out.…

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

1: Should Nike be held responsible for working conditions in foreign factories that it does not own, but where subcontractors make products for Nike? Ans: Nike should be held responsible for its subcontractors, as it is operating in countries which lower its costs and increasing its profit. Nike should be accountable, as they are huge firm which holds considerable international authority and when making the contract it holds the final decision, as they can find other subcontractors, so Nike should be able to specify what kinds of working conditions it should have and not have in the factories and it is possible they might not have much influence in the foreign country but I am sure they can specify working conditions that are acceptable by…
