Being in the emergency department for behavioral health, you definitely encounter different people and with different situation for all ages. Brenda and I had a 16 years old male patient who was admitted on February 14. He was abandon by his parents at a young age and lived with his Aunt. Due to his family situation, he did not attend school and has no insurance. When he was admitted to the ED, the doctor DX him with depression and he had a left laceration on his arm due to cutting, he drank and smoke marijuana. CRISIS did an evaluation for him prior to arrival, and put him as an CBAT bed search. CBAT bed search is when the patient is currently waiting for a bed at less intense Psy facilities, which is usually pediatric Psy patients would go to. When I came in and talk to the patient, he was such a sweet child. He was very polite and nice to everyone. Always ask to use the bathroom. The patient vital signs was within normal range; T 97.3 – P 89 – 02 99 – BP 108/70 (RA). The patient denied of suicidal thought toward himself and others, and he does not see or hear things. The whole time the patient was on the unit, he was a pleasant patient to take care him. He asks to color, read, and do puzzle. It was confusing to me why he was even in ED for behavioral since he does not shows any signs that he should be here. When Brenda and I read his HX, it indicated that he have not taken his Adderall medication for 1 week and that in his household, he has 4 sibling plus others from his mom boyfriend. Also, the whole time he was in the hospital, it was hard to contact his mom and she did not came and visit him. I think for an 8 years old to act aggressive simply because he wanted attention from his mom and that he should have continue with his
