Case Study Hillary Clinton And Comey

The day after a long 4th of July weekend for Hillary Clinton, FBI Director James Comey announced the Bureau recommends to the DOJ “no charges are appropriate in this case.” Director Comey’s announcement comes just a couple of days after the FBI interviewed Clinton for 3 1/2 hours.

As liberating as the announcement may be to Clinton, it left a bizarre avenue for criticism and still found the Secretary was guilty of “careless” wrongdoing. For her carelessness, Comey said Clinton might be “subject to security or administrative sanctions” but that decision wasn’t being made during their investigation.

Her intent was the centerpiece of the investigation and that was clear during this announcement. In citing previous cases, Comey explained how

The case that I am researching is the Rod Blagojevich case. Rod Blagojevich was the 40th governor of Illinois from 2003 - 2009. He was charged with corruption by Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. The case was criminal case and was originally heard in a court in Illinois, but later was brought to an appellate court. Part A. Explain the reasons for the rise of partisan politics in the Early Republic (i.e., major conflicts and concerns, development of the First Part System). Early within the United States, roughly 1792 through 1824, the country was starting to form two sets of political views. These two sets were the Federalists and the Republicans, largely formed by Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. This early version of political parties within the country is commonly referred to the First Party System (Norton, 2015).…

For six years Judge Mark Ciavarella and Judge Michael Conahan were using their authority to benefit themselves. Kids for Cash was a scandal, which consisted of kickbacks at the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas that was located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Kickbacks are a form of corruption when law-enforcement seeks personal gain, such as money through the abuse of their power. These two judges were convicted for receiving millions of dollars by the owners of PA Child Care. The reason they were being paid was because they had an agreement to send kids to the facilities owned by Robert Mericle.…

Olivia Plunkett Mr. Reader Impeachment 27 April 2015 After the Watergate scandal, former President Nixon was brought up on impeachment charges due to his involvement in the scandal. Many citizens called for the removal of Nixon from office, and he was brought up on impeachment charges, but resigned before there were any trials. According to the Constitution, a president “shall be removed from office for, and on conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.” Under these terms, I believe that the accusations against President Nixon were impeachable crimes due to not having the interest of the citizens in full mind.…

As many people know, the impeachment process of a president is not a good thing. Out of all of our presidents of the United States, two have been impeached. Both William Clinton and Andrew Johnson were impeached from the oval office. Andrew Johnson served in the oval office from 1865 to 1869 before he was impeached. William Clinton served as president from 1992 to 2000 before he was impeached from the oval office.…

Article 2 section 4 of the constitution states “The president, vice president, and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes or misdemeanors. Many of our former presidents have been in some scandalous mess that could have potentially lead to impeachment. Ronald Reagan, though he was not impeached he faced some heat during the Iran- contra scandal. In 1985 during Ronald Reagan’s presidency Reagan and his administration made deals that provided weapons to Iran the United States of America’s sworn enemy which was under a weapons embargo at the time, meaning nobody in the world could give them arms.…

This was the woman that Bill Clinton had an affair with during his presidency. This woman had recorded their phone sex calls, recall files that were on the desk in his office, recall important phone conversations he was having, and breaking his commitment with the first lady. This woman could have easily been a spy for the Russians, and she would have succeeded with her skills. Bill Clinton had risked our national security for some fun time with a woman when he should be working. Not only did Bill lie to his wife but he also lied to the public before finally admitting that he had sexual relations with her.…

A majority of the public though, continued to side with the democrats, believing that although he most definitely lied about his oath, they felt as if the lies did not matter as much because the situation did not directly affect the Nation’s well being. But how can serious lies and meaningless lies exist? Shouldn’t a lie just be a lie? Those questions were the center of the Republican’s argument. Clinton had lied under oath plain and simple and that was an impeachable offense no matter what the lie was about.…

The Crucible In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller, people lie to save their lives, to save the lives of others, and to maintain their reputation, and these lies negatively impact the characters in the play. For example, after being discovered in the woods and with the realization they will be punished, Abigail and her friends accuse Tituba and other townspeople of witchcraft. When Tituba senses that the blame is on her shoulders, she proceeds to accuse Sarah Good.…

The time is getting closer and closer, a time where our new president of the United States will enter office and lead our country for a period of at least four years, but there have been some cruel actions made towards the candidates, one recently from FBI director James Comey. AS revealed by Roberts, Mr. Comey decided to “announce a new probe of Hillary Clinton’s emails just days before the election,” which was said to have the intention of creating a positive effect for voters to consider, yet the problem of the Fourth Amendment, in “which protects Americans from unreasonable search and seizure,” may have been violated by Mr. Comey’s actions. First off, the reason that the investigation of Clinton’s emails is even being questioned is due…

An American theologian and political commentator from the 1960s-70s. His long-term impact on political philosophy include using theology as a resource to argue for political realism, influencing significantly the international relations theory and prompting scholars to embrace realism. Nieburh was the subject of James Comey's undergraduate senior thesis, "The Christian in Politics" where he studied the role of religious beliefs in public service. Among Nieburh's belief was that human ego would undercut our attempts to better the world, and that people need to shed their self-righteous illusions and perfectionist pretensions to set their sight on more modest solutions. Additionally, he warned that people should never assume that they could eliminate evil.…

All the President’s Men, an investigative, nonfiction book by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, details the investigation into the Watergate scandal of the 1970s caused by President Richard Nixon and his team. By detailing the investigation of a burglary, recounting the discovery of a high-profile scandal, and revealing the importance of both anonymous and credited sources, Woodward and Bernstein analyze the factors that were necessary in exposing President Nixon’s part in the Watergate scandal. All the President’s Men argues that the foundation of a just society rests upon investigative political journalism. Furthermore, without the active pursuit of the truth powered by journalistic integrity and teamwork, the American public would be oblivious or unable to respond to illegal behavior in government.…

Introduction With recent events stirring controversy and interest in the 2016 presidential primaries, it may be time to look back at possibly the most controversial scandal in recent memory. On January 7, 1999, for the second time in United States history the Senate began impeachment proceedings against a sitting president. William Jefferson Clinton (Bill Clinton), the 42nd President of the United States of America, was impeached in the House of Representatives on December 19, 1998; and then later acquitted after a Senate trial on February 12, 1999. This event would have repercussions that still ripple in American politics today. The 1990’s marked one of the most prosperous and stable; their cold war adversary, the Soviet Union, had buckled…

In the early 1970’s there was a break in at the Democratic National Committee Headquarters, which came to be known as the Watergate break-ins. Upon Investigation It was found that top white house officials, the CIA, FBI and even the president at the time Richard Nixon was involved in trying to cover it up. This led to Richard Nixon resigning which in my opinion was to save face from the impeachment that was coming his way. In the upcoming paragraphs I will be summarizing and examining two different articles on the Watergate crisis, where both authors have totally different views on the events in which happened. I will also discuss how this has changed America’s views on politics as well as how things may be different had this unfolded in this time with social media being the way it is.…
