Happy Bambino Community Resource Center Case Study

Happy Bambino Parent Resource Center is a welcome community resource. When I got there, the lady at the front desk directed me to the cuddle bug room. I went into the room; there were a few mothers with their babies in the room already. After a couple of minutes, more mothers with babies arrived at Happy Bambino Parent Resource Center. That morning, we ended up having 27 mothers and their babies, so the place was pretty packed.
Soon after that, the instructor arrived but she had to leave right away because one of her clients is in labor. Due to the fact that the instructor was there for such a short time, we had a new mother from Baby Wearing International of Madison, a non-profit organization, came in to provide some information about how to use baby carrier. The new mother, who works for Baby Wearing International of Madison, also has a baby about 3 months old and her baby was also with her. During that morning,

The first most important thing I would do is talk about what are some things that bother them. Once I find out their concerns, I would offer them to go get support from community resources, such as Happy Bambino or counseling. I think that men need support their wives during the first few months after the baby was born. I personally believe that such period of time is crucial for both parents to help each other in taking care of the new born. I would also suggest that our health care systems need to create some resources or programs specifically for men to learn how to take care of new born babies, support time management, and ways to take turns to feed them at night. Men, who are also having difficulty taking care of new born babies, should be offered programs for extra support. These programs would help support men with new born babies and advocate them with what they can do to help support their wives and new born babies during the first few

Case Analysis From a multicultural perspective, African Americans value family and religion. I believe this comes from the early African American family values from the “slavery days” because our ancestors had to endure and tolerate a lot of hard work, hardship, discrimination, and mistreatment. Because of this, they heavily relied on prayer and each other just to make it through each day. For most African American families, valuing family and religion still exists and many households, but that doesn’t mean that our culture are without other troubles. As a matter of fact, most times African American families like to keep their personal problems in the household to keep others out of their private matters which can be both a good and bad…

Yesterday in clinical I was on the labor and delivery unit. As everyone know, mom and baby is not my preference. For me, the problem is not caring for mom or even seeing a delivery, it is caring for the tiny baby. I wanted to be on the labor and delivery side because I hoped to see a delivery. There was one delivery on the unit, but unfortunately the mom was not receptive to having a student in the room.…

Many parents look back on the day their first child was born, and consider it to be the greatest day of their life. The moments shortly after labor seem subtle and all worth it for brief moment; but it is just the beginning to the journey of a long parenthood. So, what about the nine months before labor that makes the journey so excruciating for a couple? For a woman, it might be the pain that comes with a growing baby inside of them, or the immense amount of hormonal spikes they endure. During the long journey a couple takes on many obstacles throughout the three trimesters, but few people actually shed any light on the man’s role during a pregnancy.…

The second priority intervention that I would have implemented is for the postpartum mom that I was assigned to. She had some concerns about having help caring for the baby once her husband returns to work because her family does not live in town. The intervention that I would implement is support system enhancement. One outcome that I would want for this patient would be to identify at least one source of help outside of her immediate family, such as a support group for new mothers, that she can turn to for advice on caring for her child by the time she is discharged. According to Cheng, Fowles, and Walker, talking in a support group can benefit child rearing skills and interpersonal relationships (2006).…

Self- Help (Racial Uplift) refers to the efforts of African Americans to redefine the trying times in which they lived through education, economic development and religious/ secular organizational life during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This is significant because the educated blacks had the responsibility to reform the character and manage the behavior of the black population. While doing this, they battled stereotypes by emphasizing class differences among blacks. These highlight the struggles of blacks after being freed.…

To what extent does colorism exist within each minority community in the U.S.? Give some examples. Many children in minority communities who have darker complexions are exposed to berating jokes about their darker skin and are treated unfavorably while lighter skinned children receive preferential treatment from adults and people within the community. This causes children to grow up feeling inferior to lighter skinned individuals which promotes self-hate. The negative dialogue regarding darker complexions also causes girls to identify themselves as ugly or less attractive.…

Primary Positions The History of Mental Health Issues in the Black Community Mental illness among African-Americans has been present since Africans were first brought to the colonial south as slaves. In 1812, the father of American Psychiatry, Benjamin Rush, observed a disorder among Africans which caused them to become insane soon after entering slavery (Rush, 1812). He called this disorder Negritude. “The only cure,” he wrote in his journal Medical Inquiries and Observations Upon the Disease of the Mind, “was to become white,” (1812).…

The African American community has been the object of several studies in social sciences, mainly in sociology and psychology. Among the aspects studied from African Americans, identity is one of them. Identity is defined by Ritzer and Ryan in The concise Encyclopedia of Sociology, as the way people think of themselves. In others words, cultural identity is how one expresses his or her individuality or group affiliation. For African Americans, cultural identity could be perceived as the way African Americans express their affiliation to the black group which is a race, and to the African American group which is an ethnicity.…

I used to think that giving birth was overrated and believed that the emotional rollercoaster leading up the birth was insincere. In my opinion, giving birth had always seemed frightening, long and most of all painful.
