Geologically, Greensboro is situated at the headwaters of the Cape Fear River Basin, the biggest of the 17 noteworthy waterway bowls in North Carolina. The Reedy Fork Creek and Buffalo Creek bowl (Figure 1) in Greensboro are framed from precipitation that keeps running off impenetrable and pervious surfaces, and from water that leaks up from neighborhood springs and in the long run winds up in the Ocean, only south of Wilmington, NC. The bowl is situated in a move zone between warm-mild and sub-tropical atmospheres and fits in with a warm-calm, semi-damp mainland atmosphere with cool and parched winters and warm and moist summers. The yearly high and low temperatures are 69.3°F to 48.8°F and the precipitation in the zone midpoints around 42.36inches
