Case Study: East Rock Community Magnet School

Throughout my yearlong child study, I was given the opportunity to work very closely with a first grade class at East Rock Community Magnet School. The purpose of this study was to understand how students of different developmental levels could interact in the same classroom. The student that I have chosen to work with is a high achieving student in this class; however, many of the other students in the class are working below grade level and are not at the same level of social or emotional development. As a future New Haven teacher, I want to understand how to effectively instruct different students and ensure that all students are receiving a quality education.
