With absolutely no evidence at all, Nevada’s Secretary of State has claimed that at least 3 people who are non-citizens have registered in the 2016 election.Barbara Cegavske has made a serious charge against those individuals since it is a Federal offense to vote and sign the voting registration. According to Amy Rose (Legal director for the ACL of Nevada) and Joe Gloria (Clark county’s registrar), they believed that it might’ve been a miscommunication since the non-citizen might’ve thought they were allowed to vote when their naturalization ceremony is a month a later. The allegation Cegavske made has came in a sporadic time and it’s confusing to Rose that this situation is being brought up. The legal director has even said that these complication rarely occur since the penalties are serious, and that there is no way to become a naturalized citizen if you commit voter fraud for a non-citizen. …show more content…
They are not held responsible since it goes towards the secretary of the state and it is his/her responsibility that the voting process is going correct. The DMV also are not obliged to decide who is a citizen or not when someone hands them the voting registration nor do they have the right to turn away the forms. After receiving the paper works, the DMV must forward all the voting registration to the county officials. They are following the policies that the officials has given them and if the DMV has made a mistake, the secretary of State is at fault. If a question or something comes up. the DMV has the authority to pass on the information to the registrar but they can’t require proof of citizenship.
