Case Study: Coach Jim Caldwell

According to the NFL Network, new Lions’ GM Bob Quinn has yet to make a decision on the status of their head coach Jim Caldwell, but I’m here to tell you Caldwell deserves to stay.
In two seasons as the coach of the Lions, Caldwell has a regular season record of 18-14 and a postseason record of 0-1. It’s not the best record, but by no means does it quantify a head coaching change.
He led the Lions back from a 1-7 start to a 7-9 finish. That has to count for something right? Of course it does! The team looked atrocious in the first half of the season, but somehow managed to turn into a team nobody wanted to play in the second half. He also managed to do something a Lions’ coach hadn’t done in 24 years. He won a game in Green Bay!
