When becoming a school consultant, it is important to be able to have reflective thinking on the training that is received during the consultation course along with peer supervision. When we think about becoming a school consultant, there are many obstacles that one would come across, that consultant should be ready to tackle. It can become a difficult task, trying to determine what role you should play, especially when the consultant is still trying to figure out their place in the setting. As a consultant in training (CIT), during this case, there are questions that are important to consider throughout the case in order to develop a better understanding of the case. In beginning, the school psychologist, teachers and the principal disagreed with each other, but did not express themselves during meetings the way they have expressed themselves to me individually. There was diversity among us, based on our status within the school. The principal is very involved with the student and her goal is to find the best way to deal with him. The school psychologist is new to the school, and primarily followed what the principal suggested. The social worker was present and shared her input on the student; however she had very minimal interaction with the students. Then, there are two teachers that I have had constant communication with and are not certain about how to handle this student in their class. As a CIT, I was trying to find a way to make myself a part of the case without stepping on anyone’s toes. The difference in experiences surely played a major role in my relationship with the other counterparts of this consultation.
