Case Study Bam Bag

Bam Bam is an 18-year-old, Mexican male. Catholic upbringing, some college credits, lives with his parents and has an average to below average socioeconomic status. He has a long-distance girlfriend and currently doesn’t work. His mother referred him/forced him to come to me. He is AAO X4, casually dressed, appropriate for season. Average height, appears overweight and repeatedly coughs and clears his throat.
Presenting Problem:
Bam Bam returned home about 8 months ago, after going off to college for a semester and has been having difficulty focusing and making decisions, which began about 6 months ago. Bam Bam is currently enrolled in 2 college credit classes but has spotty attendance and is on academic probation. He isn’t making it classes because he hates doing the homework and has stated that “it’s boring and I can’t concentrate”. The only thing that seems of interest to him is playing video games. His substance abuse is smoking cigarettes (currently about 8/day), alcohol, marijuana, stimulants, mushrooms, cocaine. He reported that he occasionally will use alcohol, maybe a 6 pack once or twice a week. He has used marijuana regularly since age 15. Additionally, he has been looking at more porn on the internet in the last few months.
