Case Study: Alpha Nu Pledge Parent

Kara Chang is a fourth year Communication Studies major double minoring in Education and LGBT Studies. I first interviewed her while at the Revelations Dinner for the Alpha family. Kara is a member of the Alphaholics Line, and she is one of Jeremy Gozzip’s seven littles. She is also the pledgemom for my Big, Stella. She pledged Alpha Lambda and served as the Plexcomm Historian. During Alpha Mu, she was a PAC Leader. All of these things were working up towards being Alpha Nu Pledge Parent, which was always one of her dreams. Everything that Kara does in her life is towards building a community and a more accepting place, which is what drove her to run for Pledge Parent. Kara currently serves as a Resident Assistant in Hedrick Summit. Because being an RA is a very time-consuming role, she is an Associate this term in Alpha Phi Omega …show more content…
The event took place in Downtown Disney and we were almost late because of the hectic traffic. When we got there, we were randomly divided into group and of the people in group was Courtney Simpson. She is fourth year student at the Psi chapter, UCSB. She is majoring in Anthropology with a concentration on Archaeology. She said that her chapter is on the smaller scale since it was newly re-chartered in 2012. Courtney is currently their secretary, the equivalent of our chapter Administration Vice Presidents. She was once the Vice President at UCSB Student Apartment Community Council (SACC). Courtney was really good during the scavenger hunt since she is a Disneyland regular visitor. Her family goes to Disneyland at least once every year and each time they visit, they stay for three days. She said that joining Alpha Phi was one of her best decision because she was able to find true, long lasting friendship within the organization. Courtney hopes that she can meet with put chapter members soon because UCSB and UCLA rarely see each other at interchapter
