1. In terms of age, suicide risk is highest in adolescents and individuals older than fifty. In terms of race, Caucasians are at a higher risk for suicide than Native Americans, who are at a higher risk than African Americans. In terms of gender, males are at a higher risk for suicide than females. Although, women attempt suicide more, men succeed more often.

2. You might suggest that it is important for him to stress how important her life is to him and others in the family. Also, he should be an active listener in addition to acknowledging and accepting his sister-in-law’s feelings. He can also try and give her hope and remind her that what she is feeling is temporary. In addition, it is important for him to show love and encouragement by holding her, hugging her, and touching her.
