A Mistaken Burden As the dark begins to encompass the world around her, the hairs on the back of her neck begin to stand up straight. The night used to be her favorite time of the day, but lately it has become a frightening enemy. When the sun goes down, the worst parts of the earth come out; the frightful nocturnal animals, the people that resemble monsters, the crawling chill of the weather, all of the things that make her heart beat faster, all of the things that used to excite her now make her skin crawl with dread. A howling wind stirs up around her and she pulls the sleeping bag up around her chin, closing her eyes as tight as she possibly can. In response to the fact that homelessness in more common in the big cities and specific places around the globe, it is often neglected that it also occurs in small rural areas. Due to the misconceptions and neglection surrounding the homeless, it is important that the truth gets out and people begin to help them. We can help homeless people in our community by supporting nonprofit organizations that are designed to help those unfortunate enough to be homeless, holding fundraisers to help raise money to provide food and shelter to homeless people, and by spreading more awareness on the …show more content…
Whether it by individually providing homeless people with food and shelter that has been fundraised or by donating the fundraised money to various nonprofit organizations, what is raised could very well be stretched enough to provide for a large deal of people.
