We needed a topic that was current, controversial and in the news, yet provided enough credible resources in which to gather and analyze data. The team decided to focus on a current and very controversial topic on women in combat. The team felt that this topic addressed several challenges facing the military regarding gender equality, therefore providing a platform in which to build upon. We soon realized that we needed to take our idea one step further by analyzing the physiological limitations imposed on women in combat. The physical limitations would definitely be a concern based on the stringent and physically demanding requirements of combat readiness. Through clarity, we establish our vision and influence others to share in the same passion, (Bennis, 2009). Once we made the decision to push forward with the project we needed to establish guidelines and responsibilities. By defining areas of strength within the team we were able to devise a sound approach in completing the project. It is easy to lose focus when we are faced with road blocks, but clarity will enable us to refocus, as we become focused so will others and together that vision can come to fruition, (Kouzes and Posner, …show more content…
The team developed folders in one drive to capture the necessary data in which to incorporate in the development process. As the project progressed, the team overcame minor difficulties with limited access to WebEx by taking advantage of the time provided after the weekly team chat. Maintaining contact through email was initially challenging, but the use of one drive and WebEx made up for discrepancies. Our team has always provided support and recognition for work completed, which reinforces motivation and commitment within the team. When people are recognized for doing a great job they take pride in their work and in many cases, they will work harder to show their appreciation, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). The team has definitely built a solid relationship and really pulled together to make this project a reality. Each team member accepted their responsibilities with much vigor, and whole heartily went to work through creative contributions.
