In Pursuit, Las Vegas On October 11, 2015 at 1300 hours, I, Officer Paul Gasca, and Officer Gerald Bello were on patrol in the area of Tropicana and Paradise Streets. We over heard on the radio that other police units were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle and the pursuit was coming in our direction. The stolen vehicle was travelling over fifty miles an hour on the crowded streets of Las Vegas. Officer Bello and I continued in the direction of the pursuit in an attempt to get ahead of the stolen vehicle. We arrived at the intersection of Tropicana and Paradise Streets just as another officer was able to deploy stop spikes. The stolen vehicle was a Sliver Ford Explorer. Officer Gaiza began to give the driver verbal commands while I covered the driver. Officer Gaiza told the driver to throw the keys out of the window and exit the vehicle. The driver exited the vehicle and followed Officer Gaiza’s commands and walked backwards to Officer Gaiza’s patrol vehicle. Officer Gaiza ordered the driver to get on the ground. The driver complied and I secured him in handcuffs and walked him to the back of Officer Gaiza’s patrol car. While at the back of the patrol car, I read him, Ricky, his Miranda Rights. I asked him why he ran from the police. Ricky replied he ran because police make him nervous. I asked him if he threw anything out of his car. Ricky replied that he did not throw anything out of the car. I explained to him that the officer that was chasing him said over the radio that something was thrown from the car. He continued to deny that he threw anything from the vehicle. I then asked him if there was anything drugs or weapons in the car. Ricky said that there wasn’t anything in the …show more content…
Ricky said that he was coming from JD’s house. JD is a person that he has known for a couple weeks. He said he did not go in the house because JD was not at home. I explained to the Ricky that the house he was leaving is suspected to be a place where drugs were sold. I asked him if he was there to buy drugs and he said he did not go there to buy drugs. I told Ricky that he was being charged with a felony. After speaking with Ricky about the incident, I placed him in the patrol car so I could speak with Officer Gaiza. I asked Officer Gaiza if he just saw one bag come out of the car window. Officer Gaiza said he noticed Ricky start messing around two times while inside the vehicle. The first time was on Arnold Street near Sandesky’s. Officer Gaiza said the driver started grabbing stuff that was inside the car and he begins to start crushing the stuff. A few moments later, Officer Gaiza notices the white powder coming out of the car window. I told Officer Gaiza that I noticed Ricky had a white substance on his face.
