Diversity is being surrounded by people of different backgrounds and learning from their unique experiences and connecting with them. As a Resident Advisor I will develop a diverse and inclusive floor by promoting awareness of the vast number of different cultures and backgrounds present not only on the floor but in the building as well. I would also make it a point to ensure that every voice on the floor carries the same weight; even if their voice and opinion is in the minority, I want them to know that not being in the majority does not means that they are wrong. Furthermore, I want to bring in a speaker from the Multicultural Centre to discuss the social customs of a culture that is underrepresented. I would also take them to guest speakers…

Diversity Strategic Plan In order to properly fulfill the mission statement of Florence Schools it is important to lay out a clear and concise plan for how to properly achieve those goals. Moreover, as we seek to prepare students to compete in the global and diverse world; it is important that we give them the tools to be successful. This is why the plan seeks to properly ensure that we are pushing low achieving minority students to a success; while at the same time promoting within high achieving minority students the ability to flourish academically. Likewise, according to the research due to our racially diverse classrooms; it is important that children see themselves reflected in different perspectives, and that teaching and learning reflects…

Diversity is defined as variety, especially the inclusion of people of different race or culture, which happens to be the focus of most diversity initiatives. Diversity in the workplace began in the United States after the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act when the US American industry began to see new categories of workers such as women and those with disabilities. In today’s world, the United States is considered a “melting pot” of ethnic cultures.
