Plagiarism has a very wide meaning which in a layman’s language would mean copying or borrowing some other person’s original work and portraying that work as one’s own work. It is a serious ethical offence.It has a very brad meaning which could also mean:
1. To steal someone’s ideas.
2. To use somebody else’s work and then not mentioning it in their sources.
3. To show and present it as one’s original idea.
4. Copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit.
5. Changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit.
6. Copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not
It can be said according to law that plagiarism is an act of fraud which consists of first stealing somebody’s work and then later on lying about it to be their own and original work. An original idea would be something that a person came up with on his own owing to his intellect and creativity and this protected by the law under trademark law, copyrights law, patent laws etc. There are also ways to avoid plagiarism a person can use some ideas of other people up to an extent there should be a major part of one’s own ideas and intellect.They can be avoided, by citing sources from where they took such ideas that constitute a part of their work and by simply acknowledging that certain material has been borrowed and providing the information necessary to find that source. …show more content…

• Plagiarism can get you expelled from your course.
• Plagiarism can result in your work being destroyed
• Plagiarism can result in expulsion from your academic
